This time he met a toad.
Here he is chasing it.

toads are very dangerous for dogs. spent the evening in the ER of the Vets office from a common toad with our dachsund. Some are even poisonous. PLEASE keep your pup away from them.
Thanks for the info. I’m sure my dachshund would have at least grabbed and killed it. I’ll know better now!
My 5 month old chiweenie who is black and tan, is hard to see at night when I let her out. One night she was taking a long time, so I turned on the light and saw her outside shaking her head and foaming at the mouth. This foam was coming out profusely, and I was frightened that she had got into poison. I brought her inside, and pulled out my vet book as I dialed the Emergency Vet #. Almost simultaneously when he answered, I saw the warning in the book about “toads” and their toxins. I immediately remembered that I saw them frequently in the yard, and of course they liked to come out in the cool of the evening! I washed her mouth out, with just water, and the foaming subsided pretty quickly. Such a worrier, I panic, then the brain goes back to work, and I usually put 2 and 2 together! Winter now, so I don’t have to be concerned for a few months. Whew!
